The OpinionHerd Website and services are based on each user's Opinion. The opinions of the group, or herd, are based on those aggregated individual opinions. Not the expert's opinions, whoever they might be. If you don't have an opinion on a topic or item, don't give one. That's okay! For example, if you haven't seen a movie, don't rank it based on something you've heard or read. Rank it once you've seen it and have formed your own opinion. Your opinions will be saved to your free account and may be viewed or updated every time you revisit the Website. Opinions change over time, so nothing is set in stone. You can re-rank your opinions at any time. Your opinions will be saved automatically, and the herd's opinions will be aggregated, as you navigate the site.
If you are ranking items in a category that has tiered subcategories, the opinions of the top subcategory will be automatically propagated to the lower subcategories. For example, if you rank a movie in the Best of All Time category, it will automatically be ranked in both the Best by Decade and Best by Year subcategories. Note that this propagation does not happen from the bottom up. If you rank a movie within a certain year, who is to say you think it is one of the best in the decade or of all time.
